SPEAKER_02Hello. Welcome to the Gig Economy Podcast. Sorry it's late. I was on vacation for the weekend and it's just been a crazy day. So it is going up right now.

Also, uh, yeah, just thanks so much for listening. This is a I call it the shift hustle. Larry and I streamed. Um put it this way. I had two hours and twenty minutes, and I think I got it down to like one and a half hours because I cut up all the shit in there. We had a little confusion at the beginning, a little audio snafu. Larry ended the stream and early, blah, blah, blah. So hope you enjoy it. Uh, we'll be back Wednesday for a regular live stream. We're gonna do this every other week. Let us know. Give us some feedback in the podcast player. You should have a button that says, I don't know, give feedback or something. Give us some feedback. Drop us a line, say hi, tell us the fuck off, whatever. Appreciate you every single one of you that listens to the show.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, drop us a line.
SPEAKER_04Hello, hello, welcome to the gig economy podcast. I don't know what happened to Larry. His video is gone. Uh, my name is Jason, and uh we are attempting to do gig work tonight, Larry and I. Uh Larry, you got no camera, bud. I can hear ya. You can't even hear me. Anyway, so it is. We're in a like a anyways. I'm driving in a severe weather storm to go get some B dubs, and Larry is uh on the struggle bus. I I went silent, okay. Oh, Traveler can hear me. Larry! You gotta leave and come back, bro. I'm I'm sending him a message from my other phone. You gotta leave and come back. Broski, I can't even see you. Oh my. He's just rambling. Larry, leave the room and come back. God damn it, Larry.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna kick your ass. He's not reading any of the comments. I don't even know how
Stream Glitches And Storm Start
SPEAKER_02you leave.
SPEAKER_04Hello, hello, welcome to the Gig Economy Podcast. My name is Jason. This is the Shift Hustle Show episode. Who gives a fuck? It is 7.27, and we're already late because Larry had some connection issues, and then I had said to him, Hey man, why don't you uh leave the stream and come back out? Well, he has um so normally during the show, just behind the scenes, he has um full access like I do, meaning like he can control the stream, you know, whatever, just in case you never know. Like I gotta go take a piss or whatever, or whatever happened. So he has full control. Well, he did on this one too, and I think when I asked him to come back and leave, I think he well, he accidentally ended the live stream. So uh I don't know what he's doing. Well, I know he's doing an order, and I said, hey, let's each do this order that we have. He must be driving a hundred miles because I've been done with my order and on to the next one. I wasn't gonna wait because like I need to make some money too. So I'm on a double order for Marcos Pizza and uh subway 1350 for six miles. Um, and that's what we're gonna do tonight. We're just going to hopefully, if you're in the in the live stream, can you hear me? I I hope you can. I don't know why you wouldn't be able to. But uh, that's what we're gonna do tonight. Might be a couple hours that we're streaming. Um, and then the audio podcast, I'll clean it up a little bit just so that there's not the dead air. But with both of us on here, hopefully that we can uh keep you guys entertained while we're delivering. Uh, we're in the kind of a middle of a storm. Um, when I first started the stream before Larry rudely ended it, it was like I mean, it was black and coming down hard.
SPEAKER_03But right now it's just a light rain. So um, yeah. I'm hoping since it's a little shitty that it might be a little busier. I don't know how the weather is down for Larry, but this is where if Larry was on and he was driving, I'd be like, Well, I'm heading in, Larry. You know, that was the whole point. So I'm gonna be back in like hopefully five minutes. All right, that was quicker than five minutes. Now I'm gonna go to subway. Oh shit. Don't you just love it when it's ready?
SPEAKER_01Alright, what the fuck just happened? No. Oh my god. Current tasks.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01Well, this is fun.
SPEAKER_02Somehow, no thanks. Where two? Oh my god in heaven! I'm trying to. This is stupid. 5811 Byron Center. Okay. I'm trying to get back, and I'm apparently a noob. It says it's one-tenth of a mile away. Oh god. Oh, I know where it is.
SPEAKER_03What a fucking idiot. Alright, I got my Marcos. And we're going to get our subway. Hopefully Larry is okay. There's some branches down already. But it's like barely raining, so maybe it was a quick quick and fast storm. Oh, damn, this Marco smells good though, dude. They put the sauces in a little bag like this. I wish it would seal it though, then they wouldn't slide out, right? It's just kind of sitting there. I did bring my pizza bag tonight.
SPEAKER_02Excuse me. Or no, I did not bring a pizza bag. I brought a delivery bag, but I can't put pizza in here because, well, for obvious reasons. Well, I guess I could, but then I have to um make sure I lay it flat.
SPEAKER_03You know, I don't want to be one of those drivers that slides all the pizza um toppings.
SPEAKER_01God, I hope Larry's okay. Jesus. All right. Be back in a second.
SPEAKER_04Well, the Marcos is three-tenths of a mile away. Yes.
SPEAKER_02You sure? Oh, sorry, I lied. Three minutes. Nine tenths of a mile away. So that's awesome. Oh shit, can I get out here? Oh, it's right through the neighborhood, right out of the subway. Oh man, where is Larry? I sent him the link. How far did he have to travel for this delivery? I hope he messages my work phone because I turned my notifications off on my other one. Or my main phone that I'm streaming on so it doesn't interrupt me.
SPEAKER_03Man, it was so hot today. About like a half hour before I um
First Doubles And Delivery Basics
SPEAKER_03started streaming at seven. Okay, here we go. Of course, my volume's down.
unknownFuck.
SPEAKER_04Okay, gotcha. Just delivered my order. Bro, where can you hear me? Yeah, I can hear you. Can you hear me? Yeah, I can hear you. How far did you have to go? I'm on my third delivery. I told you it was it was over 10 miles, man. Oh, I I couldn't hear that. Yeah. Yeah, this is how I this is how food delivery is here. You pick it up and you do it delivered out in the freaking sticks. Damn, bro. Yeah, I'm on a double right now. I'm gonna go deliver this. I'll be right back. Let's see.
SPEAKER_00Sounds good, man. I got it. Yeah. Sorry about that.
SPEAKER_05Sorry, that was my fault, everybody, for uh screwing up the show there. Uh I hit the wrong button. That's okay.
SPEAKER_00Not used to doing stream yard on the phone, that's for sure. But uh, I'm I'm I'm just in it as a guest now. I don't have no control, so I can't I can't screw it up again. Hopefully. Hopefully.
SPEAKER_06So yeah, that's uh that's that's one of the reasons I don't do a lot of food delivery, is um it it you you'll get some far trips, man.
SPEAKER_05I have taken it's not uncommon to be double-digit miles uh for the food delivery. And uh stick sometimes more to ride share.
SPEAKER_06But that's alright, it's all good. I've got let's see, I gotta get my bike going.
SPEAKER_00I think I've got uh that was a um a door dash, I guess. The first door dash I think I've done in a minute.
SPEAKER_06So uh one thing I didn't realize or that is new to me was the two-digit pen codes that I had to get from the customer. That's the first time I'd seen that. I didn't really like that because I didn't realize I cost like pin on the deck on the you know the front porch and said you text to this person's morning, no contact delivery, so text them to get the two-digit code. Have you have you done it with that, Jason?
SPEAKER_00What the uh two-digit code in uh Grubhub, I guess, that you have to get from the customer sometimes.
SPEAKER_04No, so that was the first delivery as I've done on Grubhub in you know forever.
SPEAKER_00And I got to the front porch and they said, Oh, wow, you have he he you have to uh get a two-digit code to confirm that it's the right person.
SPEAKER_04And so I had to text the dude and wait for him to send me a two-digit code before I could end the delivery. Oh, even though it was no contact, you still had to do the code? Yeah, yeah. That's why I said that's why I said text him.
SPEAKER_00It said he's he's requested no contact, so don't call him. Text him. That's dog. So it's like yeah, it's like the code you use for Uber, but I guess for food delivery. Okay, great. Yeah, that's in with me for a loop. That's new, but anyway, I've officially done a grub hub now for the first time in about two years.
SPEAKER_04Of course, now I'm 12 miles away from restaurants, so I gotta get back into the area. Damn! That's wild. Yeah, man, I'm way out here past the Corvette plant out in the country. Yeah, I had a a double for $13.50 for six miles.
SPEAKER_06Oh, nice, man.
SPEAKER_04See that I think I just made like 12 bucks for 10 miles. And you got a deadhead back. Exactly, yeah. I mean, there's a chance I can I could get something.
SPEAKER_08There's like a few restaurants out here for the factory workers, but not a lot. Okay.
SPEAKER_04I'll head back, I'll head back to where I was at, and I'll get something pretty quick over there. Yeah, I already see some trees down. That that little cell that came through wasn't very long, but it was like fierce for like five minutes. Oh man, packed a punch, huh?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Be careful, man. Oh, it's fine now. I could it's not like blue sky, but it's it's starting to lighten up a little. Yeah, I just don't want you to come around a corner and there'd be a big tree laying across the road.
SPEAKER_01Well, that'd be a bitch.
SPEAKER_05Yes, it would. Well, we'll hopefully we'll work the kinks out on this, on this, on this episode.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I mean, it's fine. We don't stream to a lot of people, anyways. So, I mean it it's mostly the audio, which I can clean up, so yeah, scrub this and pretend it never happened. Oh goodness. So I bet when you you left you hit the end button, didn't you? I must have.
SPEAKER_06I I think I did my yeah, I must have, yeah. Obviously, I did. So I guess you just use that. There's that little back button on the bottom left. I guess that's what you're good.
SPEAKER_04I figured that's what happened. So I mean it's it's a tiny ass screen, and so it's probably best that only one of us has access to doing that. Yeah, I think that's a good idea. I think that's a good idea.
Multi App Timing And Bad Offers
SPEAKER_04I'm about three minutes for my next drop off. Okay, nice. I'm just now I'm getting back on the interstate now to head back over to where our all our restaurants are. So usually when I'm doing gig work, when I'm about three minutes away from my drop-off, I'll turn the Uber Eats app on. Okay, I've got all three of them on. Yeah, I'm just saying for like listeners, like when I'm doing like multi-app, that's a good way to do it. Because then you know you're just getting close to dropping off. And my and if you don't have anything for uh, you know, if you don't have anything on DoorDash, if you have nothing queued up, you might as well get Uber going.
unknownYeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05I do that on Roger all the time.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Get close to dropping off somebody. I'll go ahead and turn another app on and try to snag something.
SPEAKER_04About eight dollars for 15 miles. No, thank you. How much? Eight bucks for 15 miles. Yeah, that'd be a no-go. I do like how Uber overlays on another app. That's the only app that really does that, that gives you a nice little pop-up where you can just quit X out of it. Yeah. Oh, I'm in a new development. Interesting. Eight eight dollars for four miles. I'll take that. Shoot, yeah. Take that all day. All day, everybody. Of course, then my Uber app opens. Fucker.
SPEAKER_02I okay, yes. Directions, not there yet.
SPEAKER_04I wish they would give you, like, but like, at least in DoorDash, they don't give you the numbers on your screen until you're literally on the street. But like, if you have to make a quick turn, you know what I mean? I would just like them sooner. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_034241. Oh my god, what the fuck? This GPS. It says it's oh man, I need to read the notes.
SPEAKER_02Oh, apartment 12203. 12103.
SPEAKER_04123. Oh, 12203. Okay, it was it was right. All right, be right back.
SPEAKER_05All right, yeah, I'm real bad about reading the notes. I I think we better read the neat.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, the sun's trying to peek through. Nice. Man, it was like 92 here today, I think. Yeah, we had um 101 on the heat index today.
Day Job Project And Daily Earnings
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04And about I think it hit 90. How'd your big work project go? Was it successful?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it was it was good. I mean, we had a few keys to work out uh Thursday and then um Monday this week, you know, just just some things that broke because we made I mean it was we were swapping out about 27, 28 networking switches, and we swap out that much equipment. There's just bound to be a little something messed up.
SPEAKER_02For sure.
SPEAKER_05I mean, we were really pretty happy with it. We can't complain. I've I've gone through projects like that that are went much worse.
SPEAKER_04Well, it's probably all how you prepare before you do it is a is a big thing, being ready to go with whatever and it helps, for sure. Yeah, we did a lot of prep work. Yeah. Yeah, I had an okay day yesterday. I probably worked like seven hours and did 180. It could have been a little better. I don't know. I felt like I felt like I had to take some, you know, a little bit of like six dollars for four miles. Like anything was over a dollar a mile, I took it. I wasn't too picky because I'm like, I don't want to sit still, you know. Right. Yeah, you hate just sitting there, man. It feels like you're just wasting wasting time and money. Uber wants to give me a dollar fifty for another 2.7 miles. Uh no thanks. A dollar fifty? Yep. I don't think I've ever seen anything offered that low. Here's uh three and a quarter for another seven miles.
SPEAKER_00What the heck?
SPEAKER_04I know.
SPEAKER_05Alright, I'm back in the red zone now for uh Grubhub or DoorDash. Uh whichever one this is.
SPEAKER_04That's DoorDash. Dude, I'm with you on Grubhub. I felt like an idiot trying to use the app because I'm like, this is like foreign. Yeah, yeah, I really was. Like, man. They probably just I had no idea. Hold on, they just offered me five dollars for 21 more miles. Jaminy Griggs.
SPEAKER_05Can you believe that shit? I got jokes tonight.
SPEAKER_04Five bucks for 21 miles.
SPEAKER_06What are they smoking tonight?
SPEAKER_04My god, I don't know. Usually these add-ons are pretty decent.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was that's pretty shitty there.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so yeah, yesterday I, you know, like that the orders I've been getting tonight are way better than they were now yesterday. Now, mind you, I I worked till seven, okay, and they were starting to get a little better, but then I I was done at seven. I was like, I've been out almost eight hours, like I'm done. Yeah, I don't blame you. I did uh I did a few um Walmarts real early in the morning. Well, I did take a break during the day because I had some other stuff I had to do, but I didn't do eight straight, but or seven straight.
SPEAKER_02But um the rest of the day, I could not get any good Walmarts.
SPEAKER_04It was just, I was like, well, I guess I'm doing food delivery, and I wasn't in the mood for rides, so I just kind of I had to take a little bit of like it was always at least a dollar a mile. It never was the negative, but I still I would have liked to see a little bit better pay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Okay, I'm back in civilization now.
SPEAKER_04I'm gonna park here for a second and see what's what. At least the rain has kind of somewhat quelled the traffic around here a little bit. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_08Oh, I bet.
SPEAKER_04You guys got um you guys got canes chicken by you?
SPEAKER_00We do, yeah. We had it just the other day.
SPEAKER_04Uh-oh. Uh 445 for two and a half miles. I mean, I'll take it. I mean, it's it's more than dollar a mile. That's right. I mean, um, yeah, I'll take it. See, that's what I was doing yesterday. I was like four to five bucks for like two, three miles, and I'm like, it ain't great, but it
Food Talk Heat And Order Quality
SPEAKER_04it's a dollar a mile at least.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, it's short. I'm I'm pretty close to it's from uh Freddy's frozen custard and steak burgers.
SPEAKER_04Okay. We got those uh we got those not in Granville area, but we got them around, but I've never picked up from there.
SPEAKER_05My mother loves Freddy's.
SPEAKER_04I mean, what's good there?
SPEAKER_00She likes she just likes to have the they have the uh smash burgers, you know, the thin burgers. Uh-huh. She loves those.
SPEAKER_06Because she's you know, she's 84, she she hadn't eaten hardly anything. Like she she ate five chicken nuggets the other night, and she was, you know, you'd think she'd eaten a 12-pound steak or something.
SPEAKER_05Right.
SPEAKER_00Hardly eat anything. So she didn't like any kind of fish or burger.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I remember when my grandmother we would uh her favorite thing was, I think she she was in her 80s when she passed. Her favorite thing was KFC, and we'd, you know, me and Megan would go pick it up, and man, she'd barely anything, and then we'd be back like a week later, that shit would still be in the fridge. Oh yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08I've been doing KFC here for a little bit in in in probably a couple years.
SPEAKER_06I'll be right back. And I thought it was pretty good.
SPEAKER_05And uh I had this thing on Tuesdays where it's ten dollars for eight piece chicken, eight piece bucket, and uh it's pretty darn good.
SPEAKER_06I kinda go to go a complicated way just because of the way the one way uh way to have this situated. Do a little bit of maneuvering.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, Freddy's is Freddy's is put. Probably the three blocks away.
SPEAKER_02Man, I hate to say it. Uber just builds a better app.
SPEAKER_06Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_04I mean, it's just like you know, it starts navigating for you. You know what I mean? Like, you know, I just like that. I don't have to make any extra taps. Like DoorDash, you gotta tap so many damn times.
SPEAKER_00Right. Yeah, I'm I remember when we all used to use Waze because Lyft and Uber's navigation sucked so bad, but they've really both of them have have really kind of renovated them and made them a ton better.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I actually use yeah, I use all in-app stuff. Um except Doordash, they still pop it out, I believe. I use Google Maps for that.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah. I for yeah, for both rides here, I've I use their I use their navigation now.
SPEAKER_00But I didn't for a long time, man. I'm resisted, especially on Lyft.
SPEAKER_06I resisted theirs for a long time.
SPEAKER_00And then their last update, I finally cave and I was like, all right, I'm gonna give it another try.
SPEAKER_04Well, I mean, I obviously it's better to be in app, less movement around on your phone, and it's just better, safer.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, definitely safer for sure.
SPEAKER_05All right, I am at Freddy's, so I'm gonna run in and grab this order.
SPEAKER_06Alright, I'll be in it at the back.
SPEAKER_03Alright, I'm about a mile from this. I'm gonna resume my dash for a DoorDash.
SPEAKER_04So when you're multi-apping, hey traveler, when you're a multi-apping, you gotta keep the keep those juices flowing. Because when the Uber gives you four dollars and sixty cents for 12 miles, you tell them to go eat one. Larry's got lifting with Larry. I feel like I need uh I need like a oh here we go. Fucking Taco Bell. Ooh, eight miles for three bucks? Hell yes. Or eight, no, sorry. I switched them in my head. Eight dollars for three miles. You guys are probably like you stupid fuck. That's not a good deal. See, that's what I'm saying. You gotta do that other line when you're getting close, because like, yeah, like Uber was just trying to offer me four dollars for 12 miles. Like, who in their right mind would even attempt to take that? You gotta be high. I can't believe Larry's like food delivery. I mean, I I any night I can come out and it I mean they may not, they're definitely not gonna all be great. In fact, I I don't know if we were live, but I told Larry yesterday I did a lot of Uber. Well, not a lot of Uber Eats. Uber Eats was on a lot, but I did, I think I got offered 70 trips. Yeah, they want here's Uber two dollars for eight miles.
SPEAKER_03I got offered 70 trips, trips or deliveries, because I didn't do any ride share.
SPEAKER_04Um, oh no, I did have it on because if the right one came around, I uh took seven or I was offered 70.
SPEAKER_02I I took nine. That was what was to my standard. Now, mind you, I may have been on you know, Doordash, and I don't know. You know what I mean. So they meant some of them may have been good and I missed it just because whatever, but most of them are just trash.
SPEAKER_03So you do have to be careful though.
SPEAKER_04Like, Doordash has seen that I've accepted it, and I'm still two minutes out for my Uber delivery. They can get a little fussy, so you gotta Doordash will punish you if you're late. Uber is they might send you a little warning, like, hey bro, like if you don't get moving, or if you don't start heading the right direction, you're gonna get we're gonna unassign it, which is fine, right? Because whatever, but I feel like Doordash punishes you so bad if you're late.
SPEAKER_03And also another good tip, $11 for 15 miles. Another good tip, too, is um stopping your quest on there. What am I trying to say? Oh, bro, do you got a fucking gate code for me, dude? Okay, good. 938 pound 9397.
SPEAKER_02I was like, I'm gonna drop this thing right outside a gate.
SPEAKER_01That was me hitting a curb. All right. Did you hear?
SPEAKER_04I don't know if you guys can hear that on this on the stream. I wasn't like hitting it, I just kind of, you know, rubbing is racing. All right, 3953 Hillcock.
SPEAKER_02I live on Hillcock Road. 3953. I don't know. I'm changing my tent, y'all. I forgot to tell you. 3953.
SPEAKER_01Leave that number two. Oh, tips. It's right here.
SPEAKER_07Perfect.
SPEAKER_02Always try to. I mean, most of my listeners know this, but like if you're a new listener, always try to get the address or like maybe the apartment number and your photo if you can.
unknownAll right.
SPEAKER_03To Taco Bell. I got a bunch of Taco Bell requests on Uber, and they were just freaking trash.
SPEAKER_02Is that Larry? Oh, oh, it's right, he puts it in his back. I only put it in the back when it's like a huge ass order.
SPEAKER_00Alright. Good to go. Good to go on the way to let's see.
SPEAKER_08Okay.
SPEAKER_04On the way to the Drake apartments, which is pretty close. I got a another, I got a Taco Bell, eight bucks for three miles.
SPEAKER_00Eight bucks. Nice.
SPEAKER_05Good thing is this order it says on the screen that this guy is a good tipper if you make sure his order is very you know correct.
SPEAKER_04So don't teabag it.
SPEAKER_05Uh not this one.
SPEAKER_06Maybe next one.
SPEAKER_03Maybe next one. Yeah, the sun is literally trying to come out now.
SPEAKER_04Like, that's crazy. The wet weather is so wild. It is, man.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yesterday we had it, man. We had a just a huge downpour in the morning. And then uh later on the sun was all out.
SPEAKER_00And then I walked over to our far side of campus, and it was sunny, and I checked the weather, and like, oh, 10% chance of rain the rest of the day.
SPEAKER_06I got over there working on this lady's printer, man, looked up, and it was black as all could get out. Next thing you know, boom, sky opened up again. I was like, Well, I'm gonna stay over here until it stops. But luckily, it only lasted about 10 minutes.
SPEAKER_04Oh, that's good. Yeah, but man, it caused, I mean, stuff was flooding in just in that 10 minutes. It came down, it came down hard. Yeah, sometimes we had that not yesterday, but the day before. Yeah, it was more than 10 minutes, though. It it was like three hours. We got a lot of rain, which is good, I guess.
SPEAKER_06We need you know, it's dry dry right now, so the worst is when it rains like that in the morning, then the sun comes out and it's just so humid.
SPEAKER_04Right. I can't believe the good orders I'm getting tonight. Like, I wasn't getting anything like this yesterday. Was it yesterday I worked? I can't remember. I lost track of the days.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yesterday.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it sounds like you've been getting some really decent orders. Tonight I have been. I don't know what's up. Because I'm good luck. Good luck for you, but not for me. Yeah, or maybe these drivers are didn't want to come out because they saw it was storming. I mean, it might slow down now because like the sun's starting to come out and they might come back out, but yeah, they're like, ah, we can go get our own food now.
SPEAKER_03Or yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_02Doordash, remember to grab two drinks, one combo meal, one individual Mountain Dew Baja Blast. Confirm with a Sador.
SPEAKER_04Okay, make this delivery count. This customer tends to leave higher tips and ratings for great service.
SPEAKER_02Take a moment to check the order. Thanks, Doordash. I hate drinks.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. Luckily, neither one of my orders had drinks.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I don't think mine. No, mine have not. Except this one does. That's why I love McDonald's. McDonald's has got it down, man.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, they do.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's one thing that they do well. They are really good at packaging their food for delivery.
SPEAKER_04Yep. Oh, damn, Taco Bell's got a line. I mean, I go in for my food, but it always worries me when you pull up and the line's eight cars deep. Yeah. That's what's so bad about food delivery during COVID, man.
SPEAKER_06When you couldn't go in the lobby even if you wanted to. Oh. Pull up the lines like right. My gosh. Here forever.
SPEAKER_05All right, I'll be right back. COVID days. I mean, making good money, but man, some of those lines at some of those restaurants, the fast food ones, they were horrible.
SPEAKER_06I mean, couldn't get enough workers, people didn't want to come in. You know, they were scared of getting sick, so got all these people calling out, so short staffed anyway, and then the lobby's not open, so everybody's at the drive-thru.
SPEAKER_05That was crazy.
SPEAKER_06Crazy times. All right, so I think I've just got about let's see, uh, about a mile and a half to these apartments here. They've got a gate on these apartments, so it's always a toss-up on whether the gate's open or whether it's closed. And I haven't had time. I'll I'll look at the notes maybe when I get to a stoplight and see if I have a gate code, if they've provided me with a gate code. It's always a pleasant surprise when they do include a gate code because most people don't. I don't know. But entry code shouldn't need one. Call me if you do. So we'll see. Well see. Sometimes the gate's open, but usually it's not.
unknownUsually it's closed.
SPEAKER_06Sometimes you can tail somebody in, though. But that always worries me.
SPEAKER_05I'm afraid the gate's gonna shut really fast. Catch the side of my car. I had that happen once. Had a gate.
SPEAKER_04It wasn't a gate, it was like a like the barriers that they have in the road across. Got a bag tonight, Larry. What's that? I got a hot bag tonight.
SPEAKER_06Did you? What are you doing, man?
SPEAKER_05I know, right? I know my wife's. I was telling her what we were doing tonight. You know, they were doing this live food delivery. Like, oh, you ready? Got all your hot bags, ready and all your stuff.
SPEAKER_04I'm like, baby, I haven't used a hot bag in about three years. I know. Well, I wanted to bring it out because like ever since I had that experience with that guy, I felt kind of bad. Um, I know fuck fuck him, right? Because Uber, blame Uber, but also it really, I don't know. I'm trying to. If I'm gonna be taking doubles and triples, I should be more conscientious of it. And if it means I have to put one of them in a bag, it's not that big of a bill. I didn't bring it into the store, but I've just put it in there, so I hear you.
Gate Codes Notes And Close Calls
SPEAKER_00So this apartment that I'm going to has a gate, and about 75% of the time it's closed.
SPEAKER_06So I look for a gate code on there, and she put the customer put, shouldn't need a gate code, but if you do call me. Oh god. Like, why don't you put the gate code in the notes?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, no kidding. You know, why that's a whole lot easier than typing that whole sentence. But put put a couple numbers, the gate code. So I love it.
SPEAKER_06Steve, I'm yeah, gate's shut.
SPEAKER_05Oh shit. And there's nobody pulling in, so I can't sneak behind them.
SPEAKER_04Well, I love that note that says, Oh, I'm not gonna give you a code, just sneak in behind somebody. I'm like, I'm not, I just leave it right at the gate.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, all right, I'm gonna call them real quick.
SPEAKER_04All right, okay.
SPEAKER_00When I when I click the number to call the customer, said this number cannot be used anymore. Please contact DoorDash Customer Support. All right. All right, I'm gonna message them. If they don't do it, oh well shit. Now, how do you how did I miss this stuff in the notes? So I just I didn't see anything that popped up that said they had sent me a message. I go in to send them a message and it says, Well, you asked for fry sauce and fry seasoning. Well, sure, and the gate code is in here 379.
SPEAKER_05Oh, I guess I shouldn't say that on air.
SPEAKER_04Now everybody can get into the apartments. Oh, yeah, they all know. Yep.
SPEAKER_06Let's see if this works. Let's see if it works. All right, gates are opening.
SPEAKER_05There you go. Nice. And there's a crap, a crap ton of apartments in here, too.
SPEAKER_06He's got like 20 buildings. Dang. I gotta find this one. Let's see.
SPEAKER_04Come on, lady, go! Geez, we're doing 32 and a 45. 32 and a 45. Oh, we're up to 37. Oh, watch that sound barrier. You got it, babe. You do this, your minivan. Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_00Man, I was just talking about that, about the notes thing. But nowhere on the show that I had a message.
SPEAKER_04I would have never seen that unless I went to message them. It doesn't make sense. If you remember, I had the same issue because it doesn't really notify you when I was um, I think it was what that night I went back and put that order in the right spot.
unknownI don't know.
SPEAKER_04There was some night that they had sent me a message and I didn't see it. Yeah, I guess I just need to make a habit of looking of clicking that little text message thing when I, you know, right when right when I get to the restaurant and see if there's anything in there. And I'll give you a little grace. Uh, you don't do a lot of food delivery, you're mostly ride shares.
SPEAKER_00So I appreciate the grace.
SPEAKER_04I will take every bit of it. Because even I struggle with that damn app. Because, like I said, Uber Eats seems smooth, but DoorDash, there's so many things to click, and I'm like, how do I pause this fucking dash? And like, it's like, and I use it regularly. It's not like I don't know how to use it, but it is it's just kind of confusing here on this building. I'm in the trailer park. I blew my chance for that good tip. I mean, how often do they actually add a tip? Like, come on, yeah, slim to none. That is true. I mean, it's very rare. I bet like one out of a hundred. I'll get one. Of course, this delivery in the trailer park is the furthest trailer to the back with all these damn speed bumps.
SPEAKER_08Naturally, man, naturally. The way it rolls.
SPEAKER_07All right.
SPEAKER_08Uh, we'll be back. All right.
SPEAKER_07What the hell?
SPEAKER_09Did you not have the car in park? What the fuck?
SPEAKER_04I don't think Larry has the car in park. See, this is what happens when you're multi-happen and talking on the stream. I'm pretty sure he didn't have the car park. So I'm like, what's all that extra like beeping?
SPEAKER_01Oh god. 2642. I can't see shit.
SPEAKER_03The sun is actually coming out.
SPEAKER_02No, you gotta go. Oh, I forgot to turn my Uber Eats on. Damn it.
unknownAlright.
SPEAKER_02Be right back.
SPEAKER_04Look at see, got my hot bag. I'm gonna be live streaming. I gotta, you know, I gotta make sure that everyone knows that I use my hotbag.
SPEAKER_00I'm right. Back and ready for another order.
SPEAKER_04I just dumped Baja Blast down on my wrist. Uh oh. You know how you bend over and like you have like a drink in your hand, you don't realize that you still do, and fucking idiot. Hey, did you forget to put your car in park?
SPEAKER_00No, sometimes it just doesn't catch all the way.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_00I mean it's in park, but it doesn't recognize it, so it doesn't start, it won't let you lock it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I heard all the extra beeping. I'm like, what is happening? Yeah, that happens just every now and then. I forgot to turn Uber Eats back on, so now I'm sitting here with nothing in the queue. Uh got my three apps back on. Are you delivering?
SPEAKER_07No, I live.
SPEAKER_04Oh I just dropped the delivery off, so of course. Well, I just thought it would have been funny if you were delivering too. Have a good night. All right. We're flirting. I wasn't. Trust me, I wasn't. Okay. I believe you. Well, somebody was walking up with McDonald's in their hand. And I'm like, and I was like, are you delivering for them too? She's like, no, I live here. And then the lady came out that ordered the stuff that I did. Okay. Yeah, I mean, I would assume it's a delivery if somebody's
Shop And Deliver Cards And Verification
SPEAKER_04walking up with McDonald's. So Dornas wants me to give me $12.50 for eight miles for seven items shop, but I'm that's not. See, when it's a shop, that's you know, I need more than a dollar a mile for a shop. Oh, for sure. Yeah, see, I haven't done a shop on on any of the food delivery apps. Really?
SPEAKER_00Ever.
SPEAKER_04Wow. Maybe you'll pop your cherry tonight. Like, I look for shops where it's like five items or less, like, and then it's like two bottles of booze and some orange juice or something, you know.
SPEAKER_00And you use pay using your Apple Pay, right?
SPEAKER_04Uh no. Uber you have to have a card.
SPEAKER_00Okay, yeah, Uber, but uh I don't see which one. I guess Grubhub.
SPEAKER_04No, yeah, Grubhub, when I when I got reinstated, they said uh just use a digital card. Yeah, I use my I use I use an Android phone, so I use my Google wallet. Yeah, but for whatever reason, Uber won't do that, and you have to have the physical card for Uber. I'll have to look. I don't know if I have my Uber card with me.
SPEAKER_06I'll have to check.
SPEAKER_04Okay, now I'm just getting trash. Double shops, seven miles, 1650, but no, I'm not doing double shops. Yeah, no shit. I started out at 35% yesterday. Uh all right, here's $12 for eight miles. It's a little high, but I'll take it. Of course, I'll probably get a great Doordash, seven miles, fifteen dollars, but it's 12 shot 12 items for a shop, so I'm not doing that.
SPEAKER_03Klein, clean, pause orders. All right. I haven't I haven't even been able to turn Grub Bob on tonight. I've been busy with the other two.
SPEAKER_04Oh really? Oh, Uber wants me to take a picture of myself. Of course. I haven't got the I only got it once yesterday. I haven't got the prompt for it tonight. And they really it's amazing, like how lift doesn't ever like doesn't have that feature, I don't think. Well, DoorDash doesn't either. I don't remember the last time I had to verify in DoorDash. No wonder there's so many like fucking bootleg accounts out there. I had to do it on, I guess it's Grubhub when I first started tonight.
SPEAKER_00Really? I guess it's Grubhub.
SPEAKER_04If DoorDash doesn't do it, I had to do it on one of the food apps. I didn't do it. I think I did it originally on Grubhub when um when we signed back up, but other than that, I haven't had it. Well, and I had Grubhub, Grubhub on all day yesterday. I probably got 20 requests, and I only took one.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, it was the one where you have to you know look ahead and then look a little bit to the left, a little bit to the right.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_08All right, it accepted it. 706 shop and deliver for one item. Oh I have my car. That's for Uber.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I decline it.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I'm gonna go to the case.
SPEAKER_04If you don't have your card, you can turn those off in the menu so you don't get any more of those tonight.
SPEAKER_06Okay, yeah, I'll have to do that.
SPEAKER_04See if I have my card with me.
SPEAKER_06It's possible, but not likely. Man, this guy and the girl are walking on the highway, on the side of the highway here, and she is giving him hell.
SPEAKER_00I don't know what, but man, she's got those hands going, and that finger, she'll turn around and point that finger at him and gab it up in his face, and man, she's really giving it to him.
SPEAKER_04Oh man. That he probably deserved it. Probably, I'm sure. Didn't it? He probably ran his mouth.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_07Oh man.
SPEAKER_04Hey, how's y'all's gas coming down a little bit? It's been really flip-floppy. Uh today I saw at one point at 390, and then maybe 15 miles down the road, it was um 440. Damn, there is a big old dead snake here on the road. Ooh. Yeah. He's probably three and a half foot long. Damn. Alright, I gotta pick up my food. I'll be right back. All right.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't know. I couldn't tell what kind of snake it is, but he's right there on the on the water line.
SPEAKER_05And he's been obviously run over. Pretty good size snake. Parking lot, so I can check and see if I've got this Uber card on my hand or not.
SPEAKER_06I need some of these good orders like Jason's getting. Show Larry a little bit of love. Oh, there we go. Let's see here.
SPEAKER_04Well, apparently I got here too fast because they hadn't even put it in yet. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03So I'm gonna go. I'm gonna I'm gonna stay, but I'm gonna um shit.
SPEAKER_04See, this is I don't do this enough. Order status, not ready. I always put like I immediately in all the apps, if it's not ready, I I hit that button. Yeah, that's what I I did on that earlier order I had. Alright, I've got an order at Mo's Southwest drill. I'm hoping that I'll luck out and get an added order while I'm sitting here. DoorDash. $6.95 for 12.2 miles.
SPEAKER_05I think I will turn that down.
SPEAKER_01That's a big negative.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I need to turn this off. Fine off her pauses, dashes.
SPEAKER_03I'm hoping my wrist doesn't get sticky. I tried to wipe it all off.
SPEAKER_02It went underneath my watch band, too.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, that's not good.
SPEAKER_04It's a rubber one, but you got Fridays off now the summer? Uh yeah, pretty much. Nice.
SPEAKER_00Um yeah, pretty much the rest of Fridays we get off. It's it's really kind of weird how they do it. Like if there's a if there's a holiday during the week, then we'll then we'll work on Friday. But we'll work our normal shorter hours. But I mean, next next Friday is uh is Juneteenth, we we get that off. So we'll still just work four days a week, but we'll work our shorter hours during the week, so it's kind of weird.
SPEAKER_02That is strange.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_04And then like when Memorial Day happened, uh we would work, we would work short hours, but we work on Friday. So you'd work eight hours Tuesday through Friday. Seven and a half. That's what we're seven and a half. Are you hourly or salary? I'm salaried, but we our our our full work week is uh 37 and a half hours.
SPEAKER_01Gotcha.
SPEAKER_04All right, I am here at Mo's. I'm gonna grab this order real quick. All right, I'll sit here and look pretty.
SPEAKER_00That's all we ask of you, man.
SPEAKER_04Well, Uber's been at giving me add-ons, trying to all night. Now they're not giving me anything. Like, what the frick?
SPEAKER_03Texted my wife. I told her, although she hasn't messaged me because the last time she was on Telegram was 559. I was just telling her that I turned my notifications off on my the streaming phone I'm on because it was just too distracting. So my wife and I use Telegram pretty exclusively, except they block it at the at her work, probably because it's like a distraction or whatever. I mean, they block YouTube and stuff, all that too. Um now, if you go off the Wi-Fi, you can use it, but that's just such a pain in the ass. So, but yeah, so we use like regular text messaging when she's at work, but Telegram for everything else. I love Telegram, it is a great app. I've gotten a lot of my friends on Faith. Faith's like, where's Jason? Because she took a screenshot of me gone from my seat.
SPEAKER_04I'm like, I'm working, man. I'm I'm doing these deliveries.
SPEAKER_03This is the first time I've had like any downtime since I started. Which is I'm happy for. Like, apparently, Tom Brady and and GoPuff launched a premium organic uh coconut water called Good Nut. That's hilarious. Good nut. Giving it like two more minutes and then go in there.
SPEAKER_01Normally I'd hang out in the store, but since we're streaming, I thought I'd come back to the car.
SPEAKER_02So there's a rainbow. Whoopy scanty. Whoopy scanty. Larry's back from Mo's.
SPEAKER_00Moose! All right, I even checked the notes beforehand. Look at you. Done. Didn't see anything, but checked it anyway. I also use a little boys room wise in there.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's the best part of food delivery is access to a lot of bathrooms.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_04That's part of food delivery, no doubt.
unknownAll right.
SPEAKER_03No, I'm still waiting. I'm gonna go in about one minute because he said it would be ready in seven, which we mean ten, but um I just thought if I wasn't streaming, I was telling the audience if I wasn't streaming, I would stay in there and just hang out.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um, because I want to I want that order as soon as possible. But since we were streaming, I thought I'd come back here and shoot the shit. So yeah, I gotta clean. I gotta clean my car out. It's so bad.
SPEAKER_04I don't ever let my car go bad. Well, what's bad is like between the cracks, like I cannot get a vacuum down there. Like, I don't have like I would have to pull my seat out. Oh, really? Yeah, it's like I can see a piece of popcorn, crumbs, french fries, a piece of a donut. Sounds like I need to stop eating shit in here. All right, I'll be right back.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I need to go on the back little little thin wand to go down seats. This shouldn't take too long. Uh uh let's see, what'd it say?
SPEAKER_05Four miles, 4.3 miles away driving by the illustrious Bowling Green Airport right now. Yeah, hope I didn't miss anything in these notes. Seems like they don't appear sometimes until you get to that restaurant's house. Which doesn't help you much if it's something they wanted at the restaurant. We'll see. Hopefully, everything is copacetic here.
SPEAKER_04Alright. Got my food. All right. Some I so I I do like the Uber Eats app. It is is better. I mean, for as far as um, you know, the in-app thing, but what it wants me to do right now is basically make a illegal U-turn. Okay, and I'm like, I'm not doing that. Like, you know, like some states, I think it's Florida, where you would get to make like if you want to go to the other direction, like we have like these cutouts to do that. You can just do a an a U-turn and go the other way.
SPEAKER_03Yep, we can't do that here. Oh, really? Really?
SPEAKER_04So interesting enough, because I'm new apparently, I couldn't find a way to message my customer before I like confirmed the order that I have it because they didn't have root beer, so I just grabbed Dr. Pepper and I I guess that's okay. I don't know. Hopefully, I'll just blame the store. Ah, that's what I would do. Well, it was weird. I kept going in there. I'm like, why can I not message my customer? I can message the store, but I'm like, I'm right here. Like, I want to message, and maybe I'm sure I missed it, but like I wanted to go too, so I was like, fuck it. This is a little long of a drive, but it's not horrible. I mean, seven miles, but it's I mean, it's more than what I've done tonight, right? Yeah, mine's not too bad. I got I got I don't know, about four miles.
SPEAKER_08There's some traffic a little bit.
SPEAKER_04Of course, I hit this light red on the way eastbound and now on the way or on the way westbound, now on the way eastbound. Because why not? Why not? Oh, I'm not, you know, Pete Pete loved Papa John's. He was he, you know, he worked for them for so long. He was a ride or die for him. I'm not a huge fan, but I'm telling you, this piece is smelling pretty good right now. Oh man, I like Papa John's. It's just the sauce is so bland, it doesn't have it's not very sweet, it doesn't have a lot of flavor to it. That's my big I like the crust, it's a good crust. The highlight for sure. So our um there's a local gas chain around here. I mean it's mobile, but it's J and H Mobile, like that's the local company spin. Yeah, um, they added all it's called um, well, it's Little Caesars, but it's Little Caesars Express. So they basically got a mini Little Caesars inside the gas station.
SPEAKER_08Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_04So it's interesting. We have little Caesars at the ballpark, and they're strict about it. They not, you know, you can't just take a white cap's employee and make the pizzas. You have to be specifically trained by little Caesars. Really? Yeah, they're serious about it. We get I don't remember having I don't think we have any little Caesars in the gas station. Oh, Godfathers, yeah. You're kind of breaking up a little bit. I saw some article the other day on little Caesars thing. I can't remember the context or what it was, but uh little Caesars on a certain date for the topic. Okay, yeah, you're kind of cutting out. I know you not not much you can do about it, but I didn't really hear much of that.
SPEAKER_05I was just saying I read an article the other day, somebody uh they're having some kind of special for um little Caesars. I can't remember the date, but it was five dollars for a large pizza.
SPEAKER_04Pre-COVID, it used to be five dollars all the time, hot and ready. It doubled it to like ten.
SPEAKER_06And also remember tomorrow's the 11th, so you can do the um speedway 50 cents off if you text all to their number.
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah, I I I don't pay attention to that because yeah, I'm charge at home, so I was just saying that for our listeners.
SPEAKER_05Of course, they won't hear it unless they're listening. Right.
SPEAKER_00But it's on the 7th and 11th of this month and in July. So I did it on a few days ago, and you get your regular five cents off just for being a you know speedy rewards customer, then you get an additional 50 cents off, 55 cents off.
SPEAKER_04That's great. Yeah, nice. But gas has come down. Yeah, this one's a little farther than I'd like. I just realized where it's gonna put me. And yeah, I'll get orders where I'm at, but I it's out of my like I try to say west of the highway. Yeah, I'm gonna be wicked. Yeah, I'm gonna probably. I mean, I'll have my apps on. I mean, I'm not gonna turn down something amazing, but I'm gonna try to make my way back after I drop this off. Damn, this gas station, the must their power's out or something over here because they they're just closed up shop. I got about uh two and
Cutting Bills While Gigging
SPEAKER_04a half more miles here, and I'll be get the delivery out of the traffic, so it should go pretty quick. Yeah, I got five miles. Yeah, this other gas station's out too, but the lights aren't out. At least that's good. Huh. I wonder what's going on. I mean, we had those storms come through, so could have knocked out their power, I guess. Yeah, I mean it's literally I can I mean it's still cloudy, but I still see blue sky. I'm starting to see blue sky. So watch y'all's gas running up there. I know you don't need it, but uh like I said earlier today, I think it I mean it depends where you are. I'll have to look at the next station. Um probably around four bucks. I kind of like this uh last stream. I don't know, I don't know how well I'll see how well it goes. Yeah, I don't know what's happened with your audio, but it's like cutting out big time. Your video's not, but I don't know. Probably about time for I don't know if it's your phone, it's probably just a connection issue. I mean, we are on cell service, it's like we're normally streaming in the studio with like fast internet. So dude, I went so Xfinity, so I was paying like 95 for like a gig or maybe two gigs. I don't, I don't remember. And then all of a sudden a promotion ran out and it jumped up to 144. So I go in there, I always they they the last time I was in there, they're like, hey, don't chat with anyone online, just make an appointment, come in here, we'll take care of you. So I go in there, they're like, Yeah, we'll lower it back down to 95. You know what? Let's do 85 and we'll make it, we'll lock that in for five years. Like, I didn't even, I didn't even have to beg them or like like they're like, Yeah, that's fine, we'll take care of it. I'm like, damn.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, let's do that.
SPEAKER_04My wife was mad because she was like, Well, why don't they just do that anyways? I'm like, honey, that's just not how it is. You gotta hustle for your discounts. Yeah, it wasn't even hustling. I made the appointment. I showed up at two at 2.06. I was walking out with that discount and on my way back home.
SPEAKER_00I can understand your point.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it's like, why are they why are they ripping you off? Like they should be giving you that discount, anyways. If if if they're gonna give it to you. Man, these add-ons Uber's giving me can screw off. They are not good tonight.
SPEAKER_00Man, I'm tired.
SPEAKER_04I apologize for the yawns. Uh, you worked hard yesterday and today. Yeah. When yesterday I got up early. I got up at 5 30 and I was at 5 55. I was out the door with my first order for Walmart. Oh man.
SPEAKER_00GPS screwed me on this, I think.
SPEAKER_06New neighborhood. Uh-oh. I don't know if the probe cuts through or not. Nope, it doesn't.
SPEAKER_04Big circle. I have to backtrack the stairs. Yeah, I'm so far out of my zone that DoorDash is not gonna recognize me, the zone I was in. Oh, really? And that's and it's only it was only seven miles. Like it wasn't like horribly far, but it's yeah, it's gonna say go back to your other zone or end your dash and start in this one, which I am not going to do.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I'll get I'm gonna get my delivery time on this one.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you're I'm almost to mine, and you're you were like only like two miles away. Yeah, it's uh this is a somewhat new neighborhood over here. GPS doesn't know how to get you there. There's a plate in front of me. It's FST L D Y. So first I thought it meant feisty lady, but it must be fast lady, but she's driving a fucking equinox. How fast can you be in an equinox? I'm pretty sure there's probably a governor on that thing. You figure it out?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah, I got it.
SPEAKER_03Yo, there's a big old branch down.
SPEAKER_04You're out walking, it's wild. Seven miles to this delivery. There's gotta be a Papa John's freaking closer than where I was at. Yeah, I don't understand why they do that. It seems like it happens a lot. Yeah, I don't either. Again, it could be because I I was the driver that was closest to a store. I don't know. Excuse me. Could be all right. I am here. I'm gonna go pop this on our porch. I'll be right back. All right. Now Larry's not in here. We holy shit. Oh, it's a turkey vulture. I'm like, holy shit, that's a big crow. It's funny that it took this to get Larry out to do uh food delivery, just cracks me up to like say it. We're streaming. I think it would be weird doing rides here because like you would have like they would see that the you know the phone is up, and like that's kind of weird, right?
SPEAKER_03So absolutely had to do food delivery. So it's good for him, it's good for him to do something different. Uh all right, finally to this delivery. Shit, that was a bad decision.
SPEAKER_04See, you don't you don't always make the right decisions all the time.
SPEAKER_03Sometimes something looks good, and it's you know, when you have to deadhead so much, it realizes that it's not so good.
SPEAKER_06So that uh their sidewalk had like a series of small steps that you can step up, which I did not see because I was looking at the app, and so I tripped and I did a header almost, not quite, but almost.
SPEAKER_03Oh man. What's that? Hold on, I can't get my fucking phone on there.
SPEAKER_04So they don't have power over here. Oh, I guess they do. I thought, well, somebody's generators running. Uh I was like, hey, I'm sorry they didn't have the root beer. I got Dr. Pepper. He goes, really? I he goes, This happens every time I get delivery. They say that they don't have the root beer and they give us Dr. Pepper. I said, Well, I guess what's probably happening is they uh don't carry the mug root beer anymore, and it's still on their website. And you know what I mean? Like, because you're using a third party, so so yeah, I he was a little fussy. I'm like, bro, clearly they don't like stop ordering the fucking root beer. Exactly. Like fuck.
SPEAKER_06Uh I'm that sidewalk that I was at the house I was delivering to, I was just telling the listeners that uh it had one of those sidewalks like where it goes away and then it goes up a step and then it goes away, goes up a step, goes away, it goes up a step. I was looking at my hat, man. I hit my foot hit that first step. I just about took a header. I mean, just about I was like, man, if they're watching out the window, they just got a good laugh.
SPEAKER_04You you know the rule. We talked about it. When you're on steps, you can't look at your phone. I know, man, but I'm I'm I'm like a newbie right now doing this food delivery stuff. I know when when you were out, I told the the audience too, I'm like, finally got Larry out delivering food. I had to force him to stream to do it, but we got him out.
SPEAKER_00One way or another, right? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05You know, it's good though, because you know, no no harm, no foul, and I won't forget that for a while.
SPEAKER_04Right. Publish right going back. So I went back on DoorDash, but it interesting. I guess I'm still in that area, or they know I'm gonna head back. I don't know. That's interesting. I thought it was gonna give me an old like you have to like, do you want to go in this zone or do you want to go back to Granville? But I don't know, it didn't say that. Fuck you.
SPEAKER_0312 miles or 10 miles for 12 bucks.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, no thanks.
SPEAKER_03Okay, it is asking me to switch. Switch to this zone with Pipay. Don't switch. No, I don't want to. What were you saying about bowling green? Oh, really?
SPEAKER_00I guess, man. It's never asked me. See, I just got it $12 and 10 cents for 10 miles.
SPEAKER_02Nope.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I think I'm gonna pass on that one. It's from Raising Canes. Yeah, I feel like wherever you're delivering is like a dead zone for yourself.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I mean, it shouldn't be.
SPEAKER_04It probably is, but it shouldn't be. I mean, I'm right, I'm not three miles from our ball. Huh. Oh, now I'm just getting trash orders coming in. Oh yeah. Right here to my right, they're gonna get ready to build a public school. Oh. I didn't think they went that far north.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, we're getting uh they've already got one here that's about three-fourths of what they built, and this is the second one.
SPEAKER_00And I had a lady one night, she worked for them, and she said they planned on building three of them here in Bowling Green.
SPEAKER_02Damn.
SPEAKER_00I mean, the only time we shopped at them was when we were down in Florida at the condo, but they seem kind of high, but that might have just been Florida prices too.
SPEAKER_04Although I felt like when we went to uh not last Christmas, but the Christmas before, when we went to uh Clearwater, I felt like their prices were seemed better down there than Michigan, but it might be, yeah. Like but I don't know how Michigan's compared to Bolton to Kentucky, so yeah, I thought Publix was like just a I think it I thought it started in Florida.
SPEAKER_00I think it did. That's the first place I ever saw.
SPEAKER_04Some were either Florida or Alabama or somewhere down there. Somewhere southern.
SPEAKER_05Yep.
SPEAKER_04Oh, Florida, I don't know.
SPEAKER_06Florida really seems like a its own thing.
SPEAKER_03Right. Alright, well, I'm getting not much, so I'm guessing to turn Grubbub on. Unfortunately.
SPEAKER_05Oh, gotta slum it. Gotta slum it. Alright, I should get something here pretty soon. Are you parked? No, but I'm right close to the mall again where all the food, like all the restaurants are right around me.
SPEAKER_08Go down here and park at the Mint Gaming Hall. There you go. Uh-oh.
SPEAKER_00Seven 95 cents for seven miles. Oh man, I accidentally I clicked it by mistake. Uh-oh!
SPEAKER_08Oh damn.
SPEAKER_00What do I want to do?
SPEAKER_04Cancel it.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04I mean it's a dollar mile, but then don't be like what I did. It took me way far out of my area, and now I got a deadhead back. Nah, this one's not.
SPEAKER_08This one isn't too far. I'll take it. I'll go ahead and take it.
SPEAKER_04I am right down the road from the pickup, and it's not too terribly far, I don't think, because it's one night. Sabarro's pizza. Sabarro's. Oh man, we don't have it. They they all went out of business here. Really? Yeah, we've got them here. We've got this is a standalone one, actually.
SPEAKER_08We have it's always just been in the mall, but this is actually a standalone Sabarro's. Wow.
SPEAKER_04It's actually right next to the Mo's that I just picked up from. I I actually like their pizza. It was pretty good. Yeah, it's not bad.
SPEAKER_08And it's funny because it's it's in just like a little strip mall.
SPEAKER_00Huh. Oh, it's funny. It's the customer's got the same name of uh one of the girls at my work.
SPEAKER_04I wonder if that's her. Oh, that'd be hilarious.
SPEAKER_00Oh, once the add-on. $2.45. What gap is that? It says additional three feet, but it's not.
SPEAKER_04It's pickup at Pand Express, which is not three feet from Sabor. Maybe it must be right next door, though. Uh no, it's it's not right next door.
SPEAKER_08But that's what it's saying.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna take a screenshot of that. Yes, is it 245 guaranteed additional three feet?
SPEAKER_04It must be the deliveries right next to the other person. No, it shows the delivery on there. They're not they're not close. Oh well shut up then.
SPEAKER_00And it's a pickup from Panda Express the first place. Okay, it finally kicked it off.
SPEAKER_08Trying to make this person at work their last name. See if it's gonna be funny.
SPEAKER_05Three feet.
SPEAKER_08That's funny. Oh my goodness. Yeah, that is funny.
SPEAKER_04Man, these apps just kind of got quiet for me.
SPEAKER_00I'm
Night Slowdown And Acceptance Rate
SPEAKER_00here at Sabarro, so I will be right back.
SPEAKER_03Alright, so I got an order for 1825, six and a half miles, two orders, 25 items, and 30 units. Nah, no, thank you.
SPEAKER_04I don't like taking doubles shopping, or it's like Walmart I can handle, I guess, because I can find stuff really easy in there because their app is great, but man, not DoorDash or not Uber. I'm not taking doubles for shopping.
SPEAKER_06No, thank you.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but my I mean where I live, it's like more suburbia, so it's nine o'clock, and I think if I want to really stay busy, I would have to go more towards downtown because you know, it's nine o'clock, kids are in bed, parents are you know getting their hour of free time, and uh then they're gonna go to bed. So I mean we do have apartments. I mean, I say it's suburbia, but I mean we have a big mall, but it's like it's a lot of like suburbs, not a lot of nightlife, I should say. So it doesn't surprise me that it slowed down a little bit.
SPEAKER_08All right, back in the saddle.
SPEAKER_04How many miles to your delivery? Just six. Well, of course, you have it in a hot bag, so it'll be nice and fresh for them.
SPEAKER_00It sure will, man. It's gonna be so hot. It's a nice big old yeah, yeah, smells good. It's it's it's a good sized box.
SPEAKER_04I mean, I only remember them as you just buy slices.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. Yeah, I don't think I've ever had a host of Arrows Pizza.
SPEAKER_04I think my phone is broke. There ain't nothing. I got three fucking apps. Oh, there we go. Oh, oh, six dollars for 11 miles. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Can't say they didn't offer you something anyway.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you're right. I won't complain about that at least. Man, my my uh acceptance rate was at 35 yesterday on Doordash. I'm down to 25 tonight. Dropping like a rock. Yep. Well, when they offer you crap, you know. Yeah, all of I don't do I don't do those Dollar Generals either. Every time I tried one of those, it was hard to find stuff. Ugh no, it's gotta play really good for me to do a dollar general.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, DG is tough. So I just noticed like down at the bottom of my screen, it's still got that red button to end the show.
SPEAKER_04Does it? Yeah. Did you lock did you um did you click on the link? Yes. Oh, because I invited you as a guest, so interesting.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because you had to admit me when I got there.
Alcohol Delivery Problems And ID Rules
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's that's right. I'm surprised it still has it on there.
SPEAKER_00I'm not gonna touch it.
SPEAKER_04It's it's it's it's that big, it's that red button with the arrow pointing to the right, but I'm not gonna touch it. Here's one for ya. $9.50. It's only beer, wine, and spear. It's five items, but five and a half miles.
SPEAKER_08Oh, I don't know.
SPEAKER_04I probably too low.
SPEAKER_08I probably wouldn't take it.
SPEAKER_04No, it's too low. If it was like two miles, maybe.
SPEAKER_05I hadn't done a ton of alcohol delivery either. It was all with Uber Eats. It seemed like at least half the time there was some kind of problem with it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I would say I probably do more alcohol with Uber Eats than I do with DoorDash.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I just remember like the very first one I did. I get there and the dude is walking out to the yard from his fry house.
SPEAKER_05He's like, it's no big deal if my life my license is expired, is it?
SPEAKER_04Turn I just turn around dragging the car. Didn't you say anything? Well, of course it is, because we scan it, dummy. It's not like we just look at it. Right. It's gonna scan the metadata and show that it's expired. Exactly. What's up?
SPEAKER_00I think I tried to take it back and they didn't think that place didn't want it.
SPEAKER_04No, it's food. I think I ended up giving it back. Don't lie, you drank it. Yeah. I got it right here with me. We call that a roadie. A roadie? Yeah, roadie. Yeah, when you're drinking a beer when you're driving. That's a roadie. There you go. I only do that up north. That happens a lot down here, trust me. Alright, here you go. Five dollars for 1.6 miles.
SPEAKER_08Now we're talking.
SPEAKER_04McDonald's. I'd still do it. Oh yeah, I'm right here. I'm literally right here. Like I'm pulling into McDonald's right now. I just accepted it.
SPEAKER_07Nice.
SPEAKER_04So it won't be ready, of course, but that's okay. Now I'm gonna leave Uber on because I'm so close.
SPEAKER_03Like I'm at the store already. Maybe, maybe I'll get an Uber East from the same McDonald's.
SPEAKER_04Oh man. It happened. Oh, of course. I get $11 for four miles of Applebee's. I'm taking it. Yep. I'm already at the store for this one, so alright, I'll be right back. All right. That's how you app people.
SPEAKER_06I don't do enough food delivery to be comfortable. Multi-happy like that. I mean, I'll have all mine on, but I'll only accept two deliveries from different on different apps at the same time.
SPEAKER_05But who knows? Maybe after we do this a while, get back in the hanging. There's more traffic out here than I thought there would be for eight o'clock at night. All right. Hopping on interstate from here for just a couple miles. Yeah, I have to say it hasn't been terrible during 50 litres. Especially during the summer when the students are gonna fill in twice. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Also, uh, for the audio listeners, when this comes out, tell us if you like it as well as you go. Just hearing the audio.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we're just trying something new.
SPEAKER_06Let us know what you think. Hate it. If you like it, we can do it some more. Yeah, we'd love to hear your feedback.
SPEAKER_05Wood piles in a pretty good size wood piles. Oh no road, a little community on the house. Yeah, I think Jason's right. McDonald's doesn't have his food. I mean, he's cussing in there right now. Sun is starting to set here. I never did like doing food delivery when it's dark out because it seems like there's so many houses that do not have your address. It's a lot easier with Roger with a person to walk up to your car and park a couple houses, but don't want to be delivering food to their own house, especially at night.
SPEAKER_06People get antsy for some strangers on their porch. It's dark out.
SPEAKER_07Alright, we got about one more mile, we'll be there.
SPEAKER_04Damn, that took forever. Yeah, I was telling, I was like, I bet he's discussing right now.
SPEAKER_00They don't have his food ready.
SPEAKER_04Well, I knew it wouldn't be, but now I realize it's taking me a mile and a half away from the Applebee, so that's already given me a warning. Decisions, decisions. I mean, I already got the food. I there ain't nothing I can do about it, right? I gotta hope they either there might reassign it, but I don't really have a choice. I'm not gonna go get that food. I that would be, you know, if it was on the same way, like if I was going the same way that the Applebee's was, I might stop and get it, but not not going the opposite way.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I understand. That that would really make them wait a little bit.
SPEAKER_04Just it's just Murphy's law that I get a I get one and then all of a sudden I get another one that's even better, but I already accept you know what I mean? It's just like shit. Are you on order or not? Yeah, I'm getting ready to drop off this Subaru. Oh, that you're you're still on the Sabaros. Yep.
SPEAKER_05Out here in the booze, man. I'm telling you. All right.
SPEAKER_06I have I have picked up some passenger for this house.
SPEAKER_03I will be right back. See if I can meet uh Larry. Although he's already out. I'm like two-tenths of a mile away from my stop or my delivery. See if Uber Eats kick me off or reassigns it. It's starting to get dark. I gotta head home. This is where I gotta turn my roll my window down. I am getting these retinted. 2431, 2433. Alright, I'm getting these. Like, I'm still gonna have them tinted, but I'm gonna have them like half of what they are in the front window.
SPEAKER_02Alright, I'll be right back.
SPEAKER_07Alright, alright, alright. Let's get back into town. See what we can get. I am right down the street from where my oldest sister used to live. Nice little neighborhood there.
SPEAKER_04Well, Uber hasn't kicked me off yet.
SPEAKER_08All right, well, that's good.
SPEAKER_00All right, I got a big old $12.11 for 17.9 miles.
SPEAKER_09Woo!
SPEAKER_00That will be a no.
SPEAKER_02That'll be a no for me, dog.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I don't know where they would send to me. That'd be like the other side of the county. You ever wonder how the when you see those crazy orders, like do they ever get their food delivered or does it just bounce around for the next two hours?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, so they just cancel it.
SPEAKER_04I don't know. Yeah, yeah. It'd be nice to know what happens to stuff like that. Because, like you said, and because I never see the order come back with a higher offer. Right. I have seen them bring them back where they'll bundle it and they'll sneak it in there with something else sometimes, and but not individually. Yeah, that's crazy. You wonder what happens to them. I don't understand how they think, like, because I get those too, right? Because right outside of where I live, it's it's farm country, and you'll get them, you'll get them like 20 miles and for like seven dollars. I don't understand what the customer thinks. Like, I do you really think someone's gonna deliver that? Like, I can't imagine somebody does.
SPEAKER_06Well, I mean, on in their behalf, they they don't have any idea what what we're getting paid for it.
SPEAKER_00They figure I'm way out here in the country, they must be paying them pretty good to bring it all the way out here.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's a good point. 339. That's a good gas. Oh wow.
SPEAKER_05Um, what was I gonna say?
SPEAKER_07I think I was gonna say something.
SPEAKER_05Forgot where I was going. Old man.
SPEAKER_04Yep. Squirrel. No, that's not squirrel. Squirrel is you go off and start talking about something else.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's right. See, I forgot that too.
SPEAKER_04But oh, I know I was gonna say it would be nice to like to be able to know what happens behind with those walls. Right. God, it would be yeah, it'd be fun to tap somebody's brain that's like the person that's worked at that. I mean, there's gotta be people monitoring, right? I know it's a lot of the algorithm, does it, but there's still gotta be people there that are like, okay, this is stupid. What do we do with this one?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I wonder if it just ever does it ever just come back to a customer and say, hey, you know, we're canceling your it's gotta, right?
SPEAKER_06I would think so, and I would like to try it sometime when I'm way out in the boonies in the middle of the nowhere. I'd order some food.
SPEAKER_04Unless it's unless you even order. I mean, some of these I get, like I said, they're 20 miles away. Oh, yeah, like from where I'm at.
SPEAKER_06I'm I'm sure you probably remember, but like I ordered one Saturday back, this is years ago. Uh it was the weekend, I think that I think it was the day that I'm the only uh picnic that I missed.
SPEAKER_05I was out delivering, and I got back-to-back orders from here down into Tennessee.
SPEAKER_04That's crazy. All right, I'll be right back.
SPEAKER_05And got a pickup, it was just like a hamburger prize and a coke. And but it was going down to uh it was right across the state line. So we're about uh we're about 19 miles from the state line, the Tennessee line.
SPEAKER_04We're north of the Tennessee line, and so I was taking it down to all right, of course it was ready. Really? Good, good. Yeah, I was just talking about the order that I took down in Tennessee, and it was just a somebody working at a warehouse there on their lunch break, and uh, I was like, man, and I'm I got halfway back to Bowling Green and I got another order, and by golly, it was going back to that same place.
Last Runs FOMO And Wrap Up
SPEAKER_03Crazy.
SPEAKER_04I was like, dude, if you've not heard a packing of PB and J. No shit. I know you guys it must must have cost them a fortune.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. And it's cold. You know, them fries weren't worth a dang when they by the time I got down there.
SPEAKER_04Right. It was a good 35 minutes drive. That's wild. I like it. You know, a few restaurants have a lot.
unknownBut they had all right. I think after this one, I'm gonna we'll probably end the stream.
SPEAKER_04It's gonna put me like right, not right by my house, but near it. Okay. Well, that'll work. See if I can grab one more before we put a stream here. About a mile from the uh red zone here. Weird the way it's taken me to get to where I need to go. It's taken me through this neighborhood.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Which is with I mean, it's kind of the direct way to get to it, but like I know I need to get out on a main drag, but I don't know why it's taking me this way. Sometimes I don't really bother, like, like I might notice it, but I'm like, eh, fuck it. Like, it's whatever, it's fine. It's unless I absolutely know that there's like ahead, there's like a parade or something, they shut it down for like the morning. I might about face, but normally I'm just like, eh, I'll just follow the GPS, whatever.
SPEAKER_00I'll definitely have to dig out another phone mount before next time.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I did I I apologize. I didn't know you had, I figured you had two mounts.
SPEAKER_05I just didn't think about it. I'm sure I do somewhere. All right, let's see. What's this?
SPEAKER_04Uh that sounded like radar, so it can't be great. No, it's uh yeah, it's a seven seven dollar and five cent delivery for six mile.
SPEAKER_08Oh, there's a grub hub. Oh $19.42 for a 22 and a half mile Popeye.
SPEAKER_04Oh wow. Thank you. I have noticed grub hubs are seem to be the most out-of-pocket ones of the three.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, that's something that's some wild ones out there. Once we're in the street, go take a bathroom break.
SPEAKER_04Go out and do some do some rides. Oh man, I'm tired. It's late for you. Yeah, 9, 922. Especially when, well, I didn't, I I guess I didn't set my alarm this morning, but my dog woke me up at like 6:15. Oh yeah. And I try to get up, like, we've been ugh, the dog is neurotic, bro. Like, I had three dogs, two of them are great. One's got mental health problems. I mean, he's like, he's on two different types of meds, like it's it's a thing. So we've tried to like change the change his pattern, like we leave stuff, you know, just simply like just the alarm going off typically at 5 15 in the morning, you would understand that pattern. So I'm like, well, it's summertime, so you know, we're gonna have to change that. And so we're slowly, he's slowly starting to get it, like, oh, mom and dad are sleeping in. But like today, I know Megan wanted to sleep and she wasn't working. I was like, you know what, I'll just get up because like he'd been sleeping until at least 7:30, but for whatever reason today, at 6 15, he's barking at me.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, he's like, not today, not today.
SPEAKER_04No, get up, bitch. Did you end up grabbing one or not? You're still waiting for a good one. I haven't gotten I hadn't gotten any worth taking. Yeah, I was looking at that grab hole one and that uh greach one disappeared off of the radar. You know, the it's so funny, it's it's like FOMO. Like, even though I probably out of uh 500 radars, I might take one that's like, ooh, you know, but I still gotta look. I still gotta freaking look.
SPEAKER_00Always that unicorns just hiding in there.
SPEAKER_04I mean, I've gotten them, but they're very rare. Yeah, okay. Go ahead. It just looks like a fire truck is up here.
SPEAKER_00I can't tell which which restaurant it's in front of the see.
SPEAKER_04I the same thing with the FOMO. Like, even though I'm saying this is my last one, I'll keep it on until I get to my house because there might be a banger on there. You just never know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I do the same thing, man. I'll leave it on all the way to my house.
SPEAKER_04Just in case you never I mean, I'll move, I'll sell for one more if it's like amazing. Sure, but it gotta be real good. 2330. Can't read the fucking numbers. I I want to fire every person that puts numbers on apartment buildings.
SPEAKER_07Oh man, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Like they're putting they put white numbers on a on a clear window, Larry. You think I can frickin' see that from the road? Even with my tinted windows down, I can't fucking see them. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it's rough when you're trying to do food delivery at night. Makes you realize how bad it is for first responders when they're trying to get somebody that needs them. I can't find any road or uh house numbers or anything like that. Things have died down here, so I might run by the house. Starting to get dark. Got her done.
SPEAKER_04Got her done. That one tipped good. I'm glad Uber kept me to I mean it was, you know, three miles for or four miles for 12 bucks. So I heard something. Ah, that's radar. Oh, do I want to go 15 miles for $7? No, thank you. Bye-bye. They've got it by sidewards. Right. Flip that around. Flip it around, and then we're talking. Nope. $5 for $5.7. Nope. You better hurry up. I'm almost home, bitches. Yeah, I'm heading. I'm I think I'm heading that way too for just a minute.
SPEAKER_00They're trying to get you.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, $9.50 for five miles, but it's a shop. Uh or eight eight dollars for 15 miles. No.
SPEAKER_08Go home dig up my Uber card.
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah. Did you check it? You didn't have it? Don't. I know where it's at, though, which is good. That that's amazing. They know where it's at. Well, I get them. I just put them in this little box I have, and that's where they're at. Hey, that's that's better than me. I just throw it in the cupboard and then I'm like, shit, where did I put that? How far are you from? Oh, I'm like um a mile.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_03So I did 2735 on Doordash. And then Uber, you know, the tips are so delayed, so I don't. Let's see. 27 plus 11 is 3738 plus 8.
SPEAKER_0145. No, I'm trying to 45. Well, that was Tuesday. 45. Stop. 45.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I probably did like 60 bucks.
SPEAKER_00I don't I don't I don't even know if I want to look and see what I did.
SPEAKER_05Offer way up here.
SPEAKER_08Uh oh. $28.
SPEAKER_03Damn.
SPEAKER_08Oh, it's a bundle.
SPEAKER_04Pop out 10k piezo. No, I did say that. If you close to home, I probably could. Really?
SPEAKER_00Nice.
SPEAKER_04Alright, I'm ending the screen here. All right, man.
